Alcyon SFC 超臨界流體層析管柱
Alcyon SFC columns are Supercritical Fluid Chromatography (SFC) columns available with chiral/achiral stationary phases. Alcyon SFC columns are specifically packed in SFC-compatible hardware and are tested under SFC conditions.
The low viscosity of supercritical carbon dioxide allows for analytical separations that are 3–5 times faster than those for normal-phase HPLC.
POINTS
■ Available in chiral and achiral stationary phases ■ Faster separation with high resolution ■ Excellent durability ■ Great reduction of solvent consumption

Faster chiral separation of trans-Stilbene oxide is achieved using supercritical fluid chromatography compared with HPLC separation. The lower viscosity and larger diffusion coefficient of the supercritical fluid provide rapid separation of both chiral and achiral compounds.

Excellent peak shape of 2-Phenylpropionic acid is obtained using SFC chiral separation. Under HPLC conditions, the peak shape is very broad with mobile phases containing no additives, such as acid. However, using SFC, the peak shapes are very good with just a mixture of CO2 and methanol. Supercritical carbon dioxide is considered to act as an weak acid.

The results of analyzing phenols on three kinds of achiral columns are shown. As the separation behavior is different, a column can be selected to suit the sample characteristics.
YMC offers five achiral-phase SFC columns.

« High column durability under repeated backpressure gradient conditions »
The results of sequential analysis under backpressure gradient conditions on Alcyon SFC CSP Amylose-C are shown.
The theoretical plate number and retention time are maintained, even after the sequential gradient test. The Alcyon SFC column has excellent durability under such tough conditions.
